Why is performing arts educational

At games and at performances, there is an audience that is on-looking the actions of the students, which helps students to be confident in their talents, enough to share with strangers. The numerous benefits and skills learned through performing arts and sports in schools can easily be introduced in the classroom. Using these activities, students will be exposed to sports and the performing arts in an academic setting, which can inspire them to look beyond the classroom to find an activity that peaks their interest.

By introducing sports and performing arts inside the classroom, and encouraging participating outside the classroom, students gain the opportunity to learn important life skills.

We are fortunate that despite the lack of face-to-face teaching for the majority of the academic year, our students have still had the opportunity to engage in class, with the wider school community and enhance their learning through our collaboration with The Juilliard School.

Our collaboration with Juilliard provides the opportunity for students to experience an enhanced curriculum using a repertoire of core music, dance and drama works encompassing a wide range of genres, styles and cultures designed and selected by Juilliard.

It is evident that as teachers, we are all incredibly passionate about our subject and we are tireless in our quest to encourage our students to develop and pursue a love for the performing arts wherever they are on their creative journey! We look forward to celebrating the Performing Arts with our students face to face once again as the students gradually return to school, allowing them to access the specialist equipment that they have cruelly been denied due to lockdown.

Let us remember that the Performing Arts are for all and it is by no coincidence that during the past fourteen months throughout numerous lockdowns, has been what many of us have turned to for solace, inspiration, reflection, relaxation but most important of all joyfulness! These shows are the chance for the children to feel connected to the wider community of their school, as well as enjoying the opportunity to show their loved ones their recent efforts.

We have several ensembles, from wind band and flute group to choirs and a clarinet trio.
